Friend --
Today, we're releasing our first quarterly fundraising numbers at Organizing for Action, and I couldn't be prouder.
In just the first few months of this brand-new organization, 109,582 supporters stepped up and invested in what we're building together -- from the grassroots up.
To anyone who thought we couldn't do this, these numbers send a pretty clear message. It's never been done before, but supporters like you are doing it.
Now my question to you is: Are you going to let those founding members do it all on their own, or are you going to join them? It's not too late.
Chip in $5 or more right now to become a member of Organizing for Action today.
Here's something else I'm proud of: Our average donation is just $44.
That's incredible, and the way it should be.
People -- especially the special interests on the other side -- are taking notice of what this grassroots-funded organization is up to. We're digging in, we're speaking out, and we're amplifying the voices of ordinary Americans on some of the biggest issues of our time.
Don't miss your chance to be part of this movement: We're off to a running start, and we're not turning back.
Go on -- make a donation of $5 or more today:

Thank you for everything you're doing.

Very soon, the Senate will be getting ready to vote on common-sense proposals to reduce gun violence -- centered around universal background checks. More than nine in 10 Americans agree on this, but there are still some in Congress who have committed to standing in the way with whatever political games they can use. Some are even trying to prevent the issue from being debated at all. Now is the time to stand together and demand action. This Saturday, along with our friends at Mayors Against Illegal Guns, folks across the country are holding community events to demand a vote on reducing gun violence -- and there's one near you, in your community. We need you to be part of this. RSVP for the community event to reduce gun violence in Montclair today.
What: "We have not forgotten and demand action" community event in Montclair
Where: Watchung Plaza Montclair, NJ 07042 When: Saturday, April 13th 7:00 pm When senseless tragedy struck Newtown, Connecticut, in December, we promised ourselves that we would act -- that we would do whatever we could to make sure that no family has to go through what the families in Newtown experienced. We owe it to those families -- and to every family that has been victim to gun violence -- to keep that promise. That's the message this weekend, and it's why OFA supporters are getting together to make our voices heard. If we stand together, we can go toe-to-toe with the powerful gun lobby -- and win. Make sure you're a part of it. RSVP for the community event to reduce gun violence in Montclair today: http://my.barackobama.com/Community-Event-to-Reduce-Gun-Violence Thanks, Lindsay Lindsay Siler National Director of Issue Campaigns Organizing for Action ---------------- A movement of millions elected President Obama. Let's keep fighting for change. Chip in $5 or more to support Organizing for Action today. |

| If Thursday was any indication, the NRA and the rest of the gun lobby better watch out: Last week's Day to Demand Action to prevent gun violence showed just how much support there is for common-sense legislation like universal background checks. Here's a quick report back: -- Grassroots volunteers held more than 130 events across the country with thousands in attendance, from Tucson to West Palm Beach to Portsmouth. -- Supporters who couldn't make it spoke out online: The hashtag #DemandAction was the #1 trending topic nationally on Twitter, and our top Facebook post received more than 116,000 likes and 23,000 shares on Thursday alone. -- Our volunteer-led events received local and national media coverage on news outlets across the country, including CNN, Fox News, and hundreds of local ABC, NBC, and CBS affiliates. Members of Congress were back in their home districts last week, and I guarantee they heard our voices. Whether they do the right thing and pass legislation 92 percent of Americans support -- or cave to the powerful gun lobby -- depends on what we do next. Thanks for saying you're ready to fight for gun violence prevention. Will you forward this email to five friends and ask them to add their names to yours? http://my.barackobama.com/Fight-to-Reduce-Gun-Violence |
